To support either a named Academic Studies Scholarship or a Sports Excellence Scholarship for Excelling Disabled Athletes, a minimum donation of $1,800 USD is kindly requested. Your contribution will make a significant difference in empowering deserving individuals to pursue their academic or athletic aspirations despite their disabilities.
The disabled athletes who have earned these awards serve as inspirations to us all. Offering scholarship support is an ideal avenue to extend a direct lifeline to those who have made significant sacrifices for Israel. Your contribution not only recognizes their remarkable achievements but also empowers them to continue pursuing their dreams against all odds.
Scholarships for Academic Studies, Preparatory Courses, and Creative Arts
For many war-disabled individuals, the opportunity to enhance their academic skills is vital for fostering independent living. Supporting them throughout their academic journey not only empowers their achievements but also contributes to their overall success.
Applications for Academic Studies Scholarships are submitted annually to the scholarship committee, with awards tailored to individual needs, disabilities, and other pertinent factors.
As an example, in December 2018 at Beit Halochem Tel Aviv, a total of 518 scholarships were granted for academic and vocational training, as well as pre-academic preparatory courses, amounting to $589,811 USD. Additionally, 32 scholarships were awarded for creative arts and culture, totaling $19,852 USD.
In sum, the 2018 Academic Scholarship ceremony distributed a total support of $609,663 USD.
Scholarships for Excelling Athletes Demonstrating Sports Excellence
Engagement in sports activities, particularly competitive sports, has been shown to have a profound positive impact on the mental, physical, and social aspects of the rehabilitation journey for individuals with disabilities. The realm of competitive sports for the disabled has not only expanded but has also become increasingly demanding, evolving into a global movement.
Research underscores the significant benefits of involvement in sports activities, especially in competitive sports, on the rehabilitation process of individuals with disabilities.
Scholarships are granted across various categories, including Paralympic Team members, athletes excelling in non-Paralympic sports at World/European Championships, promising Young Athletes, scholarships administered by individual Beit Halochem Centers, scholarships for Athletes from the Periphery, and awards for Coaches achieving remarkable milestones.
In May 2018 at Beit Halochem Tel Aviv, a total of 79 scholarships were distributed to Excelling Athletes and Coaches (14) in recognition of their outstanding athletic accomplishments, amounting to $140,000 USD.
Make a life-changing impact by considering funding a scholarship for a disabled Israeli veteran. Your contribution can empower them to pursue their academic or athletic dreams despite the challenges they face.
Donors of scholarship support typically receive a personal "Thank You" letter from the recipient(s) and an invitation to the awards ceremony, in addition to heartfelt gratitude from an Israeli hero.
When Shalom Segall, disabled during combat when his tank overturned, received an academic scholarship in 2015, he expressed his gratitude to his donors in the following manner:
"The scholarship seed you planted has grown, blossomed, and become a tree. A tree made of leaves, a tree that touches and cares for people struggling with PTSD and anxiety disorders, as well as children in the Israeli educational system who need therapeutic attention. I hope that this tree will continue to grow bigger and stronger, and that I will be able to pay it forward. Thank you!"
