Tuesday October 10th, 2023
Hello Everyone,
I wanted to provide you with an update this morning (Tuesday the 10th of October 2023) regarding the ZDVO’s activities during this tumultuous time in Israel, both in respect to our disabled members and in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Update Highlights:
- 1. We have opened a special 24-hour helpline for disabled veterans to call in case they require aid. Dozens of calls were already received, and we are making sure to address each and every one of them in a personal and immediate manner. Six hundred (600) calls have been received so far.
- 2. We have also been initiating check-in calls to over 10,700 of our disabled veterans who live in Israel’s South and Shfela (lowlands) regions to determine their status and if they require any assistance.
- We have mobilized our logistical resources to send over 1,000 WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) aid kits to wounded veterans in hospitals across Israel.
- 3. We’ve assisted 40 families to evacuate from their homes in communities near the Gaza border and into hospitality facilities in Tel Aviv, Eilat, and the Dead Sea.
- 4. I am in constant personal contact with the head of the Rehabilitation Department of Israel’s Ministry of Defense and with the heads of our regional centers to coordinate the ongoing needs of all members of the ZDVO.
- 5. Our digital platforms continue to receive constant updates, and we issue special messages to all our members across the country on a regular basis.
- 6. The Southernly BH Be’er Sheva center is back in operation, providing full services to all members. Other BH centers and facilities are closed until further notice, and employees have been asked to remain at home.
I’d like to thank all our employees who have been working non-stop since yesterday morning.
We are also here for you – please update us if you or any of your family members received military summons or if there are any personal or familial issues we can help with.
Please remain close to shelters and keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
I commend the members of our armed forces and offer wishes for quick peace.
Our strength comes from our joint bond. If we stay together, we will win this.
Adv. Edan Kleiman,
Chairman of the ZDVO
